Constructed in 1870-71 Nevada’s State Capitol is built of native sandstone and combines elements of classic Corinthian, Ionic & Doric architecture.
The capitol building is nearly 300 feet in length and 120 feet high from the ground to the tip of octagonal, silver painted cupola.
Inside are the offices of the Governor and other constitutional officers as well as a portrait galley of every Nevada Governor.
The second floor of the capitol contains displays in the historic legislative chambers that describe the construction of the building, early Governors and the history of the state.
