In the heart of beautiful downtown Gerlach, Nevada, gateway to the Black Rock Desert, rests an historic railroad water tank tower.
Built in 1909 to serve the Western Pacific Railroad that established Gerlach as a major train depot in 1905.
The tank tower is the only remaining vestige and the only one of its kind still standing.
In serious need of repair an effort has been launched to raise the funds needed for its restoration.
It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
