Between 1908 and 1911 four classic Spanish Mission style elementary schools were built in Reno.  Mount Rose was the third in the series. In the 1970’s Mary S. Dolton & Orvis Ring schools were demolished. McKinley Park School was converted into a community center. Mount Rose School was closed for safety reasons
A massive effort to “Save Our School” was launched in 1977.
$1.7 million was raised and Mount Rose reopened January 4, 1982.
